چکیده

We study the effect of wave function orthogonality in the rela-tivistic treatment of the nucleon removal reactions (γ, p) and (e, e ′ p). The continuum wave function describing the outgoing nucleon is made orthogonal to the relevant bound states using the Gram-Schmidt procedure. This procedure has the advantage of preserving the asymp-totic character of the continuum wave function and hence the elastic observables are unaffected. The orthogonality effects are found to be 1 negligible for (e, e ′ p) reactions for missing momenta up to 700 M eV /c. This holds true for both parallel and perpendicular kinematics. By contrast the orthogonalization of the wave functions appears to have a more pronounced effect in the case of (γ, p) reactions. We find that the orthogonality effect can be significant in this case particularly for large angles. Polarization of the outgoing protons and photon asymmetry show more sensitivity than the cross sections. If the orthogonality condition is imposed solely on this one hole state the effects are usually smaller.

The relativistic amplitude for the direct knockout contribution to (γ, p) reactions on nuclei is reduced to a nonrelativistic form using an effective Pauli reduction scheme. The reduction is carried out to second order in the inverse nucleon mass. It is found that the interaction Hamiltonian appearing in the nonrelativistic amplitude has significant dependence, starting at second order, on the ...

The deuteron axial current is sensitive both to the form of the implementation of relativistic dynamics as well as to the details of the deuteron D state at moderate momentum transfer, making it a natural partner to the magnetic form factor for exploring details of nucleon-nucleon dynamics and associated electroweak properties.

Dilepton production in proton-and nucleus-induced reactions is studied in relativistic transport model using initial conditions determined by the string dynamics from RQMD. It is found that both the CERES and HELIOS-3 data for dilepton spectra in proton-nucleus reactions can be well described by the 'conventional' mechanism of Dalitz decay and direct vector meson decay. However, to provide a qu...

We reexamine in the relativistic transport model the dependence of kaon yield on the nuclear equation of state in heavy ion collisions at energies that are below the threshold for kaon production from the nucleon-nucleon interaction in free space. For Au+Au collisions at 1 GeV/nucleon, we find that the kaon yield measured by the Kaos collaboration at GSI can be accounted for if a soft nuclear e...

A theoretical description of nucleon knockout reactions initiated by polarized electron scattering from polarized nuclei is presented. Explicit expressions for the complete set of reduced response functions (independent of the polarization angle) that can be experimentally obtained assuming plane waves for the electron are given in a general multipole expansion. The formalism is applied to the ...
